CRC WELCOMES ATTENDEES AT
2009 FALL WORLDWIDE ERC SYMPOSIUM
With over 1,200 attendees at the Fall Worldwide ERC Symposium CRC took advantage of the opportunity to welcome the attendee's to our city and promote our organization by having a "Welcome Table". We had a great location across from the registration area with 25 of our members volunteering their time, while catching up with their peers in the industry and meeting new attendees. The booth was manned by our volunteers all day Wednesday and Thursday morning as guests arrived at the WERC Fall Symposium.
Chip Wagner, our Publicity Chair did an outstanding job of organizing the table, updating the CRC Brochure, obtaining City of Chicago maps and city information brochures. To add to the festivities we had a poster board with CRC Member organization logos on display and two drawings, one for guessing the number of candies in a bowl and a random drawing. The winner of a $100 AMEX gift certificate for guessing the number of Jolly Ranchers was Pat Glynn from Citibank who guessed 482 - there were actually 481. Great job Pat! Also, Suzanne Sichz won the random drawing for a $50 AMEX gift certificate.
Our sincere thanks to the following volunteers who did an outstanding job of representing CRC and our great city! Barb Binder Crowder, Barb Mcintyre, Bari Rubenstein, Ben Ivory, Bill Rounds, Cathleen Podell, Chip Wagner, Dan Brennan, Dave Smith, Fran Podlasek, Jean Strickland, Jennifer Jacobs, Jill LaFoy, Jim Kanik, Jim Rybarczyk, Joe Riccelli, Karen Suo, Kim Ashley, Lisa Burns, Pam Jacknick, Stephanie Martin, Susan Carter, Susan Toenies, Sylkia Negron and Tracy Toth.
Community Service Day for CRC
On Saturday, September 26th, a team of CRC volunteers spent time at the Mobile Pantry at Harmony Baptist in Chicago. The Mobile Pantry distributes food directly to the public and on the 26th they distributed food to about 250-300 households. "It was very heart-warming to spend a few hours of our time on a Saturday morning and realize the difference that we made in the lives of so many families" said Pam Jacknick, CRC President.
Thank you to all of our volunteers: Our Organizer and Charitable Causes Chair, Ed Quartullo (Sudler Sotheby's), Pam Jacknick (NEI Global Relocation), Sylkia Negron and husband Richard (FMC Technologies), Ben Ivory and Rick Knox (Graebel), Karen Danner (Koenig & Strey), Dannie Hall (Moving Station), Jim Kanik ( Nelson Westerberg International). We also had additional assistance from Sylkia's son Johnny and classmates Jillian Roman, Lorenzo Wilson, and Jacob Pagon.
Family Addition to Dave Smith Family
We asked Dave Smith to tell us about the new addition to the Smith family. Here is what he shared with us.
After about 2 1/2 years of waiting, 3 trips to Siberia, background checks, fingerprinting, parenting classes, etc, I am thrilled to announce that my wife and I have completed the adoption of our second child Aedan Smith. Aedan comes to us from a region in Russia called Kemerovo which is about a five hour plane ride east of Moscow. Aedan will be 2 1/2 years old next month and is adjusting to our family amazingly well. While Aedan is still grasping the English language, he continues to yell at me in Russian. As they say "good things are worth waiting for".
Congratulations to everyone!
