Charitable Causes

In 2017 we have raised over $10,000 to support each of our charities Working Bikes and Chicago Run.

Through the generosity of our members, we raised $10,000 at our February meeting and $2,000 at the Midwest Relocation Conference which was shared by our charities. Thank you to all who generously supported our charities and our efforts.

Additionally, there are many opportunities for us to support our partners.  Here are some of the ways we have worked with Chicago Run this year:

On a cold, almost snowy Saturday in March, CRC members volunteered as Running Buddies and Cheering Squad for Chicago Run.  Over 200 junior-high students were running a 5-k to celebrate their training over the winter.  Thanks to Jen Breen, Laura Henneberry, Julie Sujack and Matt Tobel for bringing friends and running with the kids. That hill at the end was tough but we all finished strong!

CRC participated in the Chicago Run Summer Event on Thursday, August 10. We sponsored 8 participants who competed in different challenges followed up by a party at Whiskey River.  Thanks to those who participated!

At Worldwide ERC in September we teamed up with other YP40’s from across the country to create signs for the Chicago Marathon.

In 2000, CRC leadership saw the need to formalize the charitable giving of the organization.  That same year, the Charitable Causes Committee was formed to encourage CRC membership to engage with local charities and leverage their own charitable hearts.

Volunteer opportunities will be announced during the year.  No previous experience is necessary.  A willing spirit and a giving heart automatically qualify you to take part in the activity.

Please keep an eye out for opportunities to give:  the Silent Auction in February of each year is by far the biggest fundraiser.  Smaller opportunities are made part of the other meetings.

Never get tired of doing little things for others. Sometimes, those little things occupy the biggest part of their hearts.
